Thought I'd better pull my finger out, so I've gone a enroled on a City&Guilds level 3 welding course starting in September.

Am looking forward to it actualy. (Should've done this years ago)

If this is the first course you've done as a mature student you'll love it - you get much more out of it than the kids.

which college are you goin to mate looking for somewhere in my area so i can do c&g level 2 in tig, any one in the midlands doing it this year or did it last year???

I'm going to Kingston Maurward College near Dorchester Dorset, probably a tad far away!

Here in Sheffield there is absolutely nothing available, but if you'd like to learn flower arranging thats fine.

just done a level 3 tig welding pipe course
was a good course tbh gained a lot ov theoretical knowledge
didnt really gain a lot ov practical knowledge as i was proficiant in tig anyhows

you will enjoy it m8 go for it

I've just given Tony Coles at boothlane Northampton a bell but he's not in so I've left a message about contacting me. Been to working-links interview today for a cycle job?!? anyway they explained to me because I'm on income support if I wanted I could enroll for free on the C&G welding courses staring on the 21/09/09..

So trying to take them up on the offers and avenues that could be open to me. it's an 15 week course for £150+£30 Materials. which is allot cheaper then the place in Corby for £300 over 10 weeks.

it's either that of taking them up on the offer of some doormen positions but I'll also need an SIA badge or something? not that I'm a big lad to be honest and don't really fancy being a bouncer in some rowdy nightclub, however would give me something to use me old combat body armour on as sitting around the house in it is now becoming a bore and also giving the neighbours some funny ideas about me..

Started the course Monday night, went through the usual health and safety talk first then got on with making a mess .

Only joking, we started with gas welding and I did pretty well (even if I do say so myself), two thin bits of steel (1mm thick) and I managed to weld them both together with only a couple of blow throughs, even managed to fill them in .
