Cobalt drill set

Can anyone recommend a good decent cobalt drill bit set either one they've just bought and are happy with or been using for some time,so many to chose from esp on fleabay etc just dont know what to choose,price wise,between £40-£60max,i'm looking for a 25 piece set 1mm-13mm in 0.5mm steps.

Ive just finished a job needing about 1300 holes in HARDwood (i know someone is going to say "its only wood" but you need to see this stuff to understand!) along with about 100 holes in galv RHS, and had really good success with the Erbauer HSS ones from s fix. i was buying in little packs but i think they do a kit as well.

The one thing i found over my (decent) other set was they seem a little more forgiving to being over-sped - ie dont just harden instantly and then become useless.

you were drilling in hardwood and they still kept going,didnt they clog up with wood resin a thing that happens when using steel bits on wood unless you got the speed spot on.
I've seen the Erbauer ones,but always have classed then as one up from silverline products,in otherwords c**p,perhaps i'm wrong?

spend the money and buy some hss sherwood presto or dormer drills .u get what u pay for

You're right (and I'm not a carpenter!) the first ones I tried did clog up and I even snapped a couple (deep in the hole, which is a little frustrant), but the Erbauer ones seemed fine. The wood tended to coalesce, burn, and then drop off the drill with no dramas. It made a nice smell to keep me going!

I think as with everything - people will have good and bad experiences. I'm certainly happy with them for steelwork (which is what I do most of).

Interesting you say that about Silverline, i have a 1/2" drive sockeet set from them that gets used ALOT and i'm pretty happy with that too...Although i admit, some of their stuff (and the packaging/presentation) looks a little dodgy.

Purchase the Clarke one from Machine mart that suggested.Really good drill set.Cannot compare with any dormer,but for that price really pleased!
