Could anyone make sense of the cable codes.
Seems like prices are all over the shop. 25 metres of GT 100 is less than a tenner. 50 metres is 25 quid? Seems strange to me.
Then there is. 100 metres of RG6 for 13 quid..


What is difference in performance?

That's why it costs more? I don't need much but I can't get my satellite to lock on to Astra 2. So I am falling back to an aerial.

I'm not sure how they work out the pricing on stuff in screwfix sometimes.
I bought 2 pack of 6 of something the other day and it was cheaper than buying a 10pack.

I routed our whole house in H52 low impedance cable.

total waste of time. Nothing now uses it.

RG6 is a bit low rent, probably ok for UHF / digital tv but you would not want to be using it for a LMB these days.

Sorry, don’t know what I was thinking of. I did our house in H109F. It was king dear in 2005/6/7 or so whenever it was.

You do only get what you pay for to a point, my go to always used to be CT100 which is good for digital or satellite but there are many different quality ones about, try and go with copper braid AND copper foil, the cheaper ones are copper braid and aluminium foil, you know what happens when you mix different metals especially with a bit of damp

I had a problem with ours the other day on Astra 2E, I had to rotate the LNB a few degrees and it is all good again now. I used Screwfix shotgun cable to wire the Humax twin tuners and it's been fine for years.

Mine has LNB built into the dish as I understand it.
My controller only lists Astra 2 not an alpha character after it??

I had a satellite in the early 90s the copper center wire would disintegrate after about 1 1/2 years.

CT100 is a poor choice being air cored. The correct certified cables are foam cored. The one that we sell is WF100 from Webro. The Twinsat version is the same cable siamesed, but there is no reason why you couldn't also use a pair of singles.

RG6 is bad news for a number of reasons... It is lossy, it is poorly screened and the mix of copper and aluminium leads to corrosion. It is also often copper coloured steel centre core. However it is cheap and that is some people's only consideration.

Failure of the copper core is generally due to such corrosion. Correctly specified cable will not fail that way.

The skew on the LNB should be adjustable as is the elevation of the dish and the azimuth or the dish will only work in one area. Get the dishpointer app and look for astra 28.2E it's a group of satellites 2E 2F 2G or go to the website
