Its my first project i have posted here despite repairing landrover chassis and making lots of other bits and pieces.

Its a bit arty farty and inspired by chunkinola and his arty stuff

Its nothing more then some bent bars and a few ball bearings acquired from work

I wander what i could sell these for?

I think you could sell them for people to hang their coats from.



That looks very nice indeed. I like the style and it could be suited to a wider range of items, such as lamps etc. Well done.

Simple, rustic and it looks 'nice' whatever that is. Try a blob of weld on the end of the bars, run a quick circle around the end of them, avoids a sharp man made look to the end and saves faffing about grinding and deburring them. More organic like.
How have you done the mountings? they look as though you have surface welded them on a high setting, again you have got an organic look rather than just sticking them on a plate. Also how have you finished them?

How much dat worth?? a goodly amount. I'll give a verdict tomorrow. Any offers?

Look at the price of a coat hanger set from B&Q, the sort that are 5 hooks on a wooden back board. They are up to about £20 - £30, and what you have made is much nicer by a long way.

Considering design, materials, time with a painted finish (other coating will add cost), here's my guestimate.





As a one off commission........120.00+ in painted form...this is a very hard one to price

Make a few and sell them yourself........90.00 each

Supplying a re-seller in batches of 10 minimum.........45.00 each to the re-seller on delivery.......larger batches cost reduces slightly

Having re-read the thread, has Chunko posted photo's of his own designs and does he make and sell these , I suspect so...........

Chunko has not had this idea, but does like it. (wont copy it however). I can also see how you can develop a range, of these, eg a free standing version like ivy, maybe with a few leaves.

ZZR1200 is about on the button, I was thinking into three figures.
If you are doing them in batches price them by the hour at a generous rate.
The hardest thing is finding buyers and outlets, galleries are so toffee nosed that I gave that line up in disgust years ago.

Whatever you do dont undersell yourself, also try creeping the price up, that way you will find a rate, and once something has sold keep that price.

When selling unique stuff you are aiming at people who are buying something handmade that they like, not a mass produced product. make it clear that are made to commisison, how many hooks, how far between hooks etc etc, people like to feel involved in the design process.

It looks good, like a Willow withy sort of effect. I've repaired a few bike side stands where the kick peg has broken off and I use 6mm round bar welded on. To make the ball on the end I turn the power and speed up and just point and squirt straight at the flat end face, they won't snag on anything then.
