co2 regulator

Hi, ive just joined up, had a look round, looks like a great site. Apologies if this the wrong section. Im a total novice as will become clear! Just after some guidance to get my kit setup right. I got an ex pub co2 cylinder but need a regulator.
this is my bottle

As a side question, this reg says its 300bar, but others ive seen are only 3 or 4 bar, how come theres such a big difference?

Also the gas pipe on my welder (second hand sealey supermig 195) is a rubber tube thats just been sliced through on the end, so im assuming i need a connector of some sort to join the pipe to the regulator??

Appreciate any help you can offer.

TO your other question, the 300 bar is the inlet side, it shows you the pressure in the bottle, the 4 bar will be on your LP side, which is probs 0-4 bar, as for your hose, stick a pic up and well do our best to help you

CO2 tanks are at about 1000PSI (about 70 bar.) Weldequips reg is good for over 4400PSI, so no problem.

3-4 bar on a reg probably refers to its output pressure, most run 30-50PSI or 2-4 bar.

The reg linked to has a 3/8 BSP outlet. You would need to get an adapter to a hose barb to match your hose.

Wow speedy service here! Thanks for the help. As for the hose ill get a pic tomorrow. Basically its just rubber hose, i.d 4 or 5 mm , o.d 8 to 10mm (just guessing but hopefully you get the idea) its plenty long enough, but obviously the previous owner disconnected the pipe from his regulator with a stanley knife!

Welcome Velojez. You will need something like this if you get that regulator to connect your hose to.

Don't be suprised when you connect the CO2 bottle and turn on the tap that it does not show a great deal on the bottle gauge as CO2 (only) is a liquid under pressure and the area above the liquid is gas so will only give about a tenth of the gauge scale.When they refill your cylinder they do it by weight ie put bottle on scales and fill till correct weight. If you change to CO2 Argon mix then you will see a much higher reading on your gauge!

ps take care when selecting pub CO2 cylinders as there are beer CO2/mix gases and this type of CO2 mix is not what you want for welding!! Ask for CO2 only

Cheers for the link. Got the cylinder off ebay, then a local yachting company safety tested it, fitted new valve/tap wotsit on top and filled with co2 only, so hopefully alls good. So am i being diddled with the co2 then with regards to volume? Can you refill a co2 bottle with an argon mix?

No, CO2 bottles are not rated for use with Ar/CO2 mixes.

This is my gas hose, measured it and it seems to be 5mm i.d and 11mm o.d, so this should just push on to a barb connector to bsp fitting that will screw onto the regulator?
