co2 pub gas

hi all i have just been given a pub gas bottle it seems to spit a lot and welder does not sound right am i doing some thing wrong or do you think its the gas ? I am new to welding thanks mark

It`s probably a co2/nitrogen mix which is no good for welding i`m afraid

its a grey bottle and only has co2 wrote on ! Mite just go to boc for a bottle ! Or is there any were cheaper ?

Hi firstly co2 is hard work. I started to learn with it and its gud to get goimg but argon/co2 is far more superior. you can get co2 chep tho and rent free so it does work out for.a biginner. I think my old bottle.was £15 deposit and £10 for the gas. Look in the gas suppliers list.

Hi Mark it sounds like the co2 pressure is too high mate, I don't have any problems welding with it, but you have to play with the pressure in different situations, ie working outside, inside etc. But that said My father in law has welded all his adult life, What a teacher lol.

thanks for info have had a play today have set reg to 20 and turned heat up and is a lot better ! My dad is a good welder to and he messed on with gas as i used the mig i will get there not going to give up as i get the co2 free ! !

i run co2 i dont weld using it outside but have my gas set at 14-16 lpm on all settings,, works fine for me at that

getting in to the swing now had a good few hours welding my van the co2 is much better than using mig on the no gas wire and cheaper
