Co2 pcp air pistol charging

Is it possible to refill the cylinder on a pcp co2 target pistol/rifle with either welding co2 or pub co2 ? Is there a kit available to do this or is it a no no ?

I don't have one myself as i prefer good old .22lr for fun but it came up on a shooting forum i visit.

Just an idea that cropped up.

depends on the gun,chinese qb78/79 etc are often filled as are crossmans,you do need a fitting and bulk fill set up.....not sure its worth doing for pistols but technically possible .....have a look here for bulk filling ....chineseairgun forum ....sorry will prob have to register

No these are high end german pistols , steyr , feinwerkbau etc, i don't actually know anything about these things as i don't have one, i just wondered if its possible to go to boc or whoever and get a half size welding bottle and use it to charge a co2 pistol , or a pub bottle maybe, it must be safe whatever else.

Safety comes from using a designed bulk fill station,fire extinguishers are often preferred as the source as the pull liquid co2 due to a dip tube inside the cylinder,pub gas can be used but is often inverted to allow liquefied co2 to transfer...To obtain complete fill the receiver needs to be cooler than the source bottle,this is often achieved by partially filling then,shooting off some gas to reduce the receiver temp,then completing the transfer.....The same principle is used with paintball guns,and parts are often used from these guns on co2 powered airrifles,coiled hoses ,quick connectors and small cylinders often being used....have a look here http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=qb...s=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a ....check out the doc...charliedatuna ...I;ve seen these mods carried out on crossman/chinese rifles and see no reason why the high end pistols cannot be adapted.....for range work, larger cylinders attached by a hose is popular as it allows a large number of shots at very even pressures.....so filling is definitely possible ......wether the parts for high end pistols are available , i don't know,but everything up to the pistol is readily available,tried and tested.............should be clear ...this has no real use for welding ,far easier to use a pub cylinder and reg,and argon being much higher pressures should only be carried out by authorised dealers

Just to be clear, the question is around refilling a PCP that normally operates on compressed air at around 2900 psi with CO2 which liquifies somewhere around 860 psi?

I read it as a co2 pistol,.....pcp...(high pressure air)...no chance whatsoever...

Yes sorry i mean co2 pistols ,i am not into air guns so don't know the lingo.

If you have the right adaptors there's no reason why you couldn't. Paintball gear for bulk filling is probably the best place to start.
