Yeah yeah I know there is a huge difference but

Realistic claim or total rubbish

Can be found at a more affordable price (£40) if you hunt hard enough

You no longer need heaters as the gas has less water in it these days. My CO2 reg you can't tell it is any different temp than normal.

Then again, if you have a tank with a dip tube it may help.

At £150 it's way too far out of my price range to be affordable...

For the cost of CO2 vs Argoshield to find any benefit I'd have to buy loads to get my money back, in which time it would probably have been cheaper to buy the Argoshield in the first place IMHO

It will still weld like CO2
CO2 freezes, all the heater does is stop this. The chemistry doesnt change.

The difference between CO2 and Argon/CO2 mix is the gas composition. CO2 and argon have different properties - the arc works a lot better through argon.

Heating the reg would only prevent freezing at high flow rate or when using dip tubes. It is unlikely to turn 80% of the CO2 into Argon.

My guess is simply that the eBay seller is attempting to con people.

I have seen these before and contemplated one for a CO2 laser I was working on to preheat the CO2...

As said, most likely rubbish...

And again, at that price a major con, I have seen them for £30 before...

As has been stated, the guys claims are total rubbish. Ar/CO2 and straight CO2 perform totally differently.

The reason for fitting heaters to liquid draw off CO2 cylinders has nothing to do with water in the gas as Shenion commented, it is to vapourise the liquid to a gaseous state more efficiently.

Heaters are quite common, people will fit them to cylinder pack systems when you have above 9 welders running off the same pack due to the high draw off rate, they help prevent regulators etc freezing
