CNC Programmer-Suffolk Area

Hi,
I am looking for someone to to teach me to or programme a CNC Mill at our works,my boss has bought a Excel 7500KM mill for me to use as our old manual one died a death,i am well out of my depth with this new one.

It has a FAGOR control if that means anything to anyone and was built originally for an engineering training school so has all the bells & whistles .

We really only need it to cut 18mm keyways in 60mm shaft and 18mm open ended slots in some bearing sliders that we use on our machines.

Basically looking either for training or at worst a couple of programs done so we can use it for the above jobs

Boss is willing to pay for your time and experiance,we are in the Ipswich area.

My old boss did this to me swapped the miller over a weekend and After a few weeks still not getting to grips with it he sacked me as couldnt do the job i was being paid to do ,,, so BE CAREFULL

You should find the fagor is conversational control this means it is all based on canned cycles, as far as i know all fagor controls are conversational based and they interpret g code into a layman's format. Although i have never played with a fagor control to a degree they are much of a muchness. I have also heard some people simply do not get on with the fagor controls due to the format is uses. I cant speak for this on personal experience as mention, but i have used several conversational type controls.

If you have a book you should be able to teach yourself everything you will need to know for basic 2 and 2/12 d programming. It is a bit hard to change the manual machining mindset to cnc. Just try to remember all its doing is what you are doing manually but you have to tell it every single step to complete the process.

They will supply programs for you as a fair cost, but in all honestly what you describe as your machining needs is very, very basic programming for a conversational and would be completed in some 4 lines of code using canned cycles.
