Same clutch as the old maestro
Pressure plate is bolted to the crank
From what I remember it will only go in one way around
The springs (if it has them as some dmf ones don't) will compress both ways.
they usually do, ive seen them push the splined center outthat is the usual thing, the springs work both ways to prevent engine pulses from transmitting into the gearbox to lesson the shock loading of the gears.
but some none dmf clutches dont have shock springs either .
BTW we need to establish if it is a pushrod or conventional clutch fork type clutch.
and also if it has been fitted AAF ---------it may have damaged the pressure plate by over compressing the diaphragm.
yep but I am saying the pressure plate may have been over compressed, and damaged but not obviously someone I know did that similar thing with the plate and only just put the plate back in the correct way, but after the clutch slipped because of lack of clamping pressure. through the diaphragm being over cpmpressedthey usually do, ive seen them push the splined center out
I see what you are saying, springs on pressure plate bent past their limit so become damaged, yeah another possibilityyep but I am saying the pressure plate may have been over compressed, and damaged but not obviously someone I know did that similar thing with the plate and only just put the plate back in the correct way, but after the clutch slipped because of lack of clamping pressure. through the diaphragm being over cpmpressed
YES Coz a clutch wears tight, not slack, ie takes up any clearance on release brg and the fork.just had another thought, did you fit a full clutch or just replace the friction plate ? if the later that also could be the problem as the springs become weak on the pressure plate and sometimes don't draw it back far enough to disengage, they are fine with old friction plates but the extra thickness on the new one causes the problem
I did one on a transit Tuesday, couldn't select gears when stationary, springs had fallen out of the friction plate and the next lot were on their way as wellYES Coz a clutch wears tight not slack
not nice twice never mind 4 timesYep I did agolf with the pushrod clutch few weeks ago brand new unit did nt clear nicely at standstill had to replace the clutch-------- again nothing obvious at all, new release bearing, fork, pushrod, etc etc had the box out 4times !!
BA$$ ------ tard things
Error the engine always rotates in the same direction as does the input shafts of the gearbox, regardless of whether a forward or reverse gear is selected, so how does the shock loading alter direction? Down stream of the reverse idler, yes, but surely not before.
Ok Got me re reverse but what about over run?
The wheels are turning the engine so the power is going backwards.
