"Closing vice screws"-where or when might these be used?

Although closing vice screws may be a common item that have probably been around for a while, I have only just become aware of them, and that was only a picture. I am guessing they are available in various sizes?
What kind of application would they be used on? Are they for clamping some type of cable or similar.
Google image search brings up some pics, for anyone else that has never seen them.

Yes-the chrome coloured pair in the top right of the 4 pics. Sort of like a ring with threaded piece going through like the part of a chain link extractor tool.

I saw the same picture as you, but was thinking ebay links are not allowed so I did not link to it (you brave man :-)

PS: Anyone know why emoticoms now appear at the start of a post that is being made, even if you leave the curser at the end of the post.

just happens sometimes make sure you click first where you want them to go

I think its OK as long as you are not taking the mickey by linking to something you are flogging on there? if you do get it wrong, the mods send round some big blokes with bigger versions of the ring type screws and they attach em to your thumbs.
