wondered why the clothes dryer stopped working today. Found this.

Standing by for criticism about plugging a dryer into an extension lead (I’ve googled it now!) but this was the only thing that was plugged in.

Certainly something I wouldn’t do again, and I’ve gone round the house checking all the other plugs!!

people dont listen many a time just do it anyway the amount of times ive seen that done and being used is so stupid

Seen shocking use of daisy chained extension leads and multi blocks in houses I've worked at.
Worst was just after Xmas. Loaded 4way block In the wall. 1 to a 4way lead. 1 to a 4 way reel still rolled up and the other two had lamps in.
Laptops printers sewing machines speakers filled all available space in the 4 ways.

Unplugged the lot and plugged my tranny in.

I must admit I make a fair bit of use four and six-way leads, but ONLY for light loads. Wall warts, radios, music / video kit, monitors, etc.
This is all <ahem> temporary until I put in some proper socketry once I insulate those walls.

Rip the outlet apart, I dissected one and found steel innards instead of copper or brass.

Yep they're made of monkey metal now, imported from christ knows where with a CE mark on them.
So much for quality control!

what about a upright fridge freezer & a small chest freezer ,both plugged into a small roll up extension ,fully unwound i must add, in the garage as not a socket where theyr located?

I've just counted 19 mains plugs in my office for computer and phone equipment &c. I use 8 way blocks, some plugged into others, for those but as current drain is low there's no danger. There's a 5 Amp fuse in the one that plugs into the mains.

It was definitely a “pucker” extension - I fully believe the “made in England” but that’s probably part of the problem - it’s pretty old (I’m guessing 20 + Years). I’m ordering some new ones to replace any others we might have.
