cleaner /brightner for alloy engine parts

ive got some old engine parts that are looking tatty , usualy i get away with a degrease and some strong acid wheel cleaner

its not really having the effect i want ...is there anything stonger i can get easily that will have more effect than trade wheel acid

Not sure it will be any better than the wheel acid, whatever that is, you can buy "ali bright". I have no idea how good it is and no idea how it's spelled, I saw it on the listing of stuff from a local chemical supplier, then I looked it up and tried different spellings and found similar sounding products[still not found mention of the place in Crawley again, must have dreamed it].
I was told hot phosphoric acid does the job!
