Well you can't do a lot of wood turning then! I use my self centering 4 jaw most. The wood usually comes in planks that you cut down and stick in it. If not bowl turning then between centres or 4 jaw are both great options.self centering wont work with wood as it wont balance right
only square wood usage would be squared
its better to use the 4 jaw chuck until you centre it properly as it will grip differently to the material you are taking off
My 4 jaw also came with face plate rings so you can bowl turn with it too. I believe the Axminster one has that facility. Check the thread pitch and see what is availableI haven't used a wood lathe since I was at school, so about 40 years. Lots to learn.
