Clarke weld 100e power problem

hi i have a Clarke Weld 100e and i am having a issue with power. i can pulg it in and the lights come on on the front but it dosnt work. I have checked most electrical tester and there is a bit of power but how much is the coil ment to chuck out as it is a very dim light on the elecrtical tester?

Welcome to the forum

You really need a multimeter to test properly. I take it you are using a test lamp?

Could be a number of things, from bad connection(s) to something like a solenoid switch not tripping, to worse like a diode or two in the pack going down, or a faulty transformer. Is there any burnt smell inside the case? Can you see any blown components on the circuit board? Do you have a copy of the circuit diagram? This makes it easier to trace faults through the circuit.

Come back with as full a report as possible and the electrically knowledgeable guys on here should be able to help.

thank you for getting back to me there are is no smell of burning in the case, no burning on the circuit board.

Some Clarke welders illuminate the power switch when the thermal overload operates, could this be the problem?
It has not overheated but could be a wiring/component fault.

Have you got any further with this?
There is a similar 100e problem post in this section, download the manual from the link in one of the posts there if you don't have a copy, it will show you the 100e circuit diagram.
