Clarke Vs Sealey?

After reading lots and asking on here, I decided a hobby mig would suit my needs, and was directed towards a Clarke 150/151 however I've just found a Sealey supamig 150 for the same price except it comes with a full size bottle reg, so it's actually saving me about £30. Just wondered if it was worth it or stick with the Clarke?

Never used a sealey but have used lots of Clarke machines and they are not bad at all so if I was making the choice I would stick with what I know and buy the Clarke. Saying that just to throw a little confusion in the mix I have used sealey air tools and they are very well made so the welders might be as good. Someone on here will of used them both.

Uncle swears by Clarke, I can't stand the stuff to be honest and have had problems with a number of welders.

Sealey on the other hand, I've had no issues with, but my uncle has.

Swings and roundabouts really. Even the Seigen stuff isn't as bad as folk make out, I've got a 130a MiniMig that has been fantastic, and still would be if I had any wire left.

Got a Clarke and consider it an all round excellent machine, never used a Sealey

Due to finding an even better deal on a refurbed Sealey I've gone with that, still has it's years guarantee and come with a proper gas reg. I will also just send it back if it's rubbish.

Now need to find the best deal on gas, I've got BOC, Energas (air liquide I think) and a couple of hobby suppliers local to me

Shielding gas prices have to be based on the quantity used per year. Some of the rent free options can work out quite reasonable if a single cylinder could last you for several years, but only the BOC Volkszone deal is worth it if you get through a 'Y' sized cylinder in less than 12 months. The total on that basis (rent and gas) is less than the deposit for the same size cylinder elsewhere, plus the charge pressure is usually much higher - 230BAR Vs 137BAR - 200BAR

The sealey turned up today and so far I'm very happy, it's well made and the wire feed is much better than a lot of the smaller welders I looked at.

I think I'm going with rent free gas to start with, deposit is a bit high but it's 100% refundable unlike some I've seen
