Clarke Table saw

Hi, I got a supply of broken down pallets for the wood burner. Thinking
of getting one of these to help cut it to burner size

I bought one for £30 from Aldi. I had to use a reducing washer when I fitted a new blade, otherwise no problems.

I use a cheap handheld circular saw for cutting pallets and a cheap chopsaw for cutting smaller stuff - both were less than 40 quid.

i have many chainsaws, but some times i just use a good hand saw, to cut a small amount just to keep me fit. Just as fast by the time i get my gear on and started the saw. WOOD WARMS YOU TWICE.

i have a slightly larger one for cutting my firewood-used it for many years sucessfully & am in the process of making a bigger one,2hp & single phase so its portable,i;m hoping that will run a 14" blade.

if you are going to break up the pallet first you would be better off with a chop saw

I had one of those for cutting pallets - with the abuse it received the motor eventually failed ........ my fault ....... insufficient room in front of the saw to handle a fullsize pallet, so kept jamming
The Clarke was excellent and certainly paid for itself prior to failing but I recommend getting a used tablesaw with a belt driven motor, so that the motor can be changed easily
At the time I decided to make my own, as for slightly smaller outlay I had a far superior motor.
Turned a spindle, bought a couple of bearings & pulleys and made up a cabinet, mainly using the Clarke's ............... can't adjust the blade height/tilt but it cuts what I need (mainly firewood)
Our woodburner is lit EVERY day + it's a large one, so needs plenty of wood. Living room is roasting but it heats the whole house, as chimney is central.

I bought a small chop saw, Evolution Fury 3, cut all the pallet planks up this afternoon. A good choice and did the job well.
