clarke swan neck spring

the springs knackered and i have just orderd one from weldequip
is it ok to weld without one until it arrives

Wouldn't run without a swan neck liner - you'll likely have wire feed problems and there's a good chance of 0.6mm wire birdsnesting inside the swan neck.

Its just one long liner in mine from the socket on the welder to the torch tip, (SIP Autoplus 180). Have the Clarke welders got a seperate liner in the swan neck?

Yes, it is basically a long spring. One end is flared so the wire as it leaves the liner "funnels" to the neck liner.

Right thanks Scott, I notice the SIP's now also have a seperate liner in the neck, suppose mine is maybe different as its older than time. I read of some folks breaking the swan neck and think the neck on mine may be better quality than the newer ones as its brass tube coated in insulation.

I had a piece of air hose over the swan neck on my old SIP just in case it was ever live.
