theres on on ebay quite near me for a good price, will it be ok for car bodywork ? ( I also have a cemont 160 amp TIG as my weapon of choice for larger stuff but obviously no good for bodywork ). its for doing a few panels and patches on a mini Im restoring. cheers

other option is looking like a sealey supermig 140 ??

It'll be fine for bodywork, just make sure it's all up together, works properly and hasn't been messed about with.

its apparently new and unused but the new sealey is only 40 quid more, with a warranty and a bit more amperage, decisions lol

I've bought a clarke 90 as my 150amp welder was tending to blow holes in the thinner stuff.The 90 works great, got it connected to a bigger gas bottle, just beware that the tips are a smaller thread than the bigger machines.
I've now got the smaller machine sat on the bigger one so its a complete welding set up.
I paid £100 for the clarke machine second hand.

My first welder was a clarke 90 and I really liked it. Why is the tig no good for bodywork though.

its extremely hard to manipulate the hand held filler wire with a tig whereas with a mig, its always in the right place. also the slightest bit of muck with a tig, it contaminates the electrode, worst case causing it to ball up at the end.

went for a new supermig 140 in the end. old tatty second hand welders on ebay were going for too silly money. a sealey went for 60 quid more than they could have got a new one for, these people walk amongst us i suppose. ill report back when I get a bottle and fire it up.
