Clarke Plasma King 55

Hi all, after some experimentation, I've just got one of these machines working (rescued from our local dump!) Mixture of a broken wire and worn out electrode - finally burst into life after careful filing of the electrode tip. So... question is, is there a cheaper source of electrodes than Machine Marts £7.04 a time? And any suggestions on long should they last under normal usage? Thanks to anyone who knows, Alex

Don't know where I got the idea it was a 55 (I was sure I'd found something on the internet about it) - scraped the paint off the front and found it is a 70! (which means I probably need a bigger compressor.....

Having got a new electrode and cutting tip from Weldequip, I can only say that the difference is amazing! Worth spending money on consumables... (though two of each cost just a little bit more than I paid for the cutter in the first place! )

Half the price of MM though eh! Did you really get it that cheap?...bargain.

I did - £20! But I did have to find and sort out all the faults.....(having checked what the Plasma King 70 costs new, I haven't got much to complain about.....) Thanks for the parts, I'm sure I'll be back for more.

You'll need more than a couple of each. They don't last long, especially if you start in the middle of the metal and not from an edge. I find I use 2 electrodes to 1 tip.

Good to know, I only bought the minimum as I didn't want to spend a lot on electrodes/tips then find the cutter was U/S - it might have been as flaky with new consumables as it was with the worn out parts it came with!
