clarke mig 90...could i convert to gasless

i have a mig 90 , i cant really warrent spending on gas for little jobs around the garden etc

would it be possible to use flux wire with some alterations?

Yes it should be possible. You'd need to swap the polarity of the machine. Might be simple if the cables are long enough. Might be a touch more difficult if they are short. But yes it's doable. You will probably need a different feed roller too as the wire is thicker along with wider type tips.

my machine can take 0.6 and 0.8 mm....i see flux wire comes in the same or is it 0.6 + flux?

I haven't seen any 0.6mm flux coated but if you can get it then should be fine. I have seen 0.8mm though. Maybe just the shops I go to. The width is including the flux. So if your roller has a double edge 0.6mm and 0.8mm you'll be fine.

Personally I wouldn’t bother - not enough in a 90 really - and you will have to convert the gun to a two wire trigger as they use the positive main wire to trigger it

A fairly certain yes from me. The only reason I'm not absolutely sure is I can't check my own welder, I think it's a 90 but I'm not at home to look at it.

I use 0.8mm wire, frequently bought from Lidl. I'd liken my welding to rough nailed woodwork. If I want cabinet level welding I take it to mate who's way better than me.
