clarke impact wrench

i have a clarke battery impact wrench CIR 24 . during the holidays i charged up both batteries as the gun itself gets seldom used , now for some unsightly reason the battery charger has decided to pack up, if you plug in a battery the led`s light up then go out altogther, phoned clarkes service dept to be told ahh yes the chargers stop working quite common apparently but there is no replacements available bye.
so i am left with a gun that is useless ,4years old and seldom used. any suggestions as to what may have gone wrong or do i just bin it and buy a lidls corded one for £30 with a 3 year guarantee?

Looks about right. Any use. Probably not in hindsight.

Is it a nimh or lithium battery??

If nimh I would just find an alternative charger and a couple of leads.

I just chucked a rubbish clarke job in the skip never was much good even when new

There are UK firms who supply replacement rechargeable batteries & also supply compatible chargers, you could try one of them. There's a good chance that your batteries fit another charger, your wrench is made by someone else & rebranded Clarke. You could also try getting your old charger repaired.

I got my Clarke one new and on a fully charged battery it could only about undo 5 gritter wheel nuts and retighten them before it went flat
think the main problem was it was not used enough
