Hey guys, does anyone else have a problem with clarke flux core wire?On my 151en the welds seem to be really poor quality and look rubbish! 1.0 steel btw.
I should imagine Clarke wire is bought with profit as the main criteria and quality is not considered to any great extent, usually whichever Chinese supplier sells at the cheapest price, hence more chance of getting something that is not nice to use and a lot different to a reputable brand wire.
Also I have never used it on 1.0 steel and can imagine that being a bit of a challenge in it's own right, certainly not as easy as gas.
Clarke wire is a chiwanese reel of crap. Avoid at all cost. Ive been through about 5 reels of it and never finished a reel because its so bad. Its a last resort for me when they are out of stock of decent stuff.
Ahh right, that makes me feel better knew my weldings not that good but couldn't be that bad, ive heard good things about SIP wire I guess its worth the extra money then?
i buy sip from Halfords and given sips rep on this site i will say i haven't had a problem with it. Been through about 20 reels i reckon and the only time i thought i had a problem it was due to the contact tip being loose.
Going to get myself a reel of Sip flux core and have a play see how I get on, well anything is better than the clarke flux core ive got now. Then when I start having some results im gonna go down the gas route.
from experience you have to stitch weld with both wires and i see no real difference in the length of each 'pulse' or any more heat build up with the 0.9. I buy whatever size is on the shelf at the time and have good success with both without much alteration to the feed rate
