clarke 260 te wire feed problems

Hi the wire on the above welder keeps on backing up to the tip and then jamming up at the rollers. i have read about having enough wire speed, new tips etc... but it continues to do it, wire is not rusty and never has been used with rusty wire. all i can think of is that the torch liner has worn because if the torch is at a tight angle coming from the welder it does it even more so. if it is, where can i get a new liner from?

Weldequip will probably have the liner.

Also check the gap between the rollers and the liner. It can get pulled away; especially if you pull the torch lead.

Old machine that, has the liner ever been changed? If not it's almost certainly that. Standard service part that should be changed regularly; listed here

make sure you get the right size for the roller and wire you are going to use

hi, thanks for that, i assumed that as it was a metal part it wouldnt wear too much, i dont think it has ever been changed to my knowledge. is it worth getting a whole new torch instead of just the liner?

Replacing just the liner should cure the problem, no need to replace the complete torch...unless it's shot at? The supplied Clarke torches aren't the nicest quality.

annoyingly i cant email a picture till this evening, the label on the torch is as follows:

description - DWM-15 mig torch 3 mtr Sealey
(im guessing that means its a type 15)

serial number - 68915030

Probably is a Type 15 although Sealey did do some with a swivel handle & I don't think they take a standard neck. Take a chance if you want, should be with you in the morning & if it's not correct we'll take it back for a refund.
