Richard. Member Messages 18,344 Location Cambridgeshire Apr 4, 2015 #2 You can I'm sure if you run the right gas (pure AR). As for thickness it won't be much as Alu mig demands higher currents that steel mig so I'd say 3mm is around the top end of the limit.
