Clarke 160 TM

hi guys has anyone got any info or pictures of the wire feed mech and insides of a clarke 160 TM mig welder because i'm interested in buying one of these in the new year and i cant find much info on their wire feed mechs, also if anyone has one of these mig's, what are your views on these?

I have one, it is very nice. If I ever make it to the workshop I'll snap some pics, but if you look at MM website the 160TM basically looks the same as the 220 etc in the automotive/heavy duty MIG welders section (not hobby ones)

cheers how good would you say the wire feed mech is? in relation to constant feed, and rollers that dont slip etc..
does it have one of these horrid little dc motors that you would expect to find on a toy?

All the Clarke's have small motors. but then again I have seen 3/4HP form a motor the same size (actually smaller)

The Clarke wire feed works well enough for a DIY machine. Better than most in its class. I had no problems with mine even after adding a 15' torch (I used it with a 12' though).

I used the 130 amp version of this machine, after 6 years of merciless abuse it croaked on me.

The wire feed mech looks simisar through the range, simple and cheap.

no complaints, it was abused horribly. In the end the motor on the wire feed got tired and slowed down.
but was it ever built to do this?

I was making human sized sculptures in this style. Duty cycle?? wot dat den??

I think that these low budget welders get dissed horribly by the 'experts' yet they can put up with a whole load of abuse.

I figure that if you are not to sure what you want spend a couple of hunderd quid, maybe buy secondhand, then if the bug bites you really bad then is the time to upgrade.

Does anyone know what power supply this welder needs ? 13A, 16A or 32A??

Instructions say not a 13amp plug, but mine runs fine off a standard 13 amper.

Has been covered many times before. I think it says it wants 16A.

Many here say they run thers on a 13A with no problems unless they run it at te MAX setting.
