Clarke 151TE playing up?

Hi all, i have had my 151TE now for around 5-6 years and it has had a fair bit of use, now it has recently, well a bit longer realy, it started to play up after a few minutes of heavey welding, it welds great on a run of just 8 inch when welding thick plate, i say thick i mean 5-6mm, but it even does it on thin but after a longer welding session. What it does is intermitantly stops and starts very short though, doesnt stop the weld, and feels it looses AMPS and the feed and i end up with pigeon poo welds.

Is it fixable?

If not i am looking at a getting a new SIP welder around the same AMP, or a second hand rig, only have around £250-£300 max to spend.

I'd take an old Clarke over a SIP any day.

Sounds like the tip or neck liner is going bad. My neck liner got deformed by overheating and it would cause problems when the gun got hot.

Well thats a good do, atleast its a cheap repair then and not an internal problem, i mite even get a new complete torch as mine is a bit rough around the edges, i have found them for around £65.

I should stick with Clrake realy as it has treated me well over the years

You might need to change the swan neck as well. After a while these can cause problems as the brass gets splattered/ burnt away a little bit.
