can you get a different torch for these,as the shroud soon get clogged up after only a few welds.I was thinking of making or modifying a a slighly larger shroud to fit my torch.
would this affect gas flow etc.
Not really enough information - sorry - hobby torch or euro torch
Power settings - wire speed - Shielding gas used All can have an effect on metal building up in the shroud in my limited experience (and it is limited)
Low power slow wire feed thin metal and CO2 (with a euro torch conversion) I very rarely have to clean the shroud on my SIP - probably only twice in an evernings welding
High power (5 or 6 out of 6) 5m/min wire feed and CO2 shielding gas it's pretty much every 10 inches of welding I have to clean the shroud (still gives the welder time to cool and keeps me away from the duty cycle trip out)
I converted mine to a Euro connector (see my guide posting in Clarke section) after giving up on trying to get a response from Clarke or Weldequip on a std repacement torch. The std sub-components are readily available I think but I was after the whole assembly.
A can of 'Tip Dip' may help things. It's a grease that stops the spatter bonding to the shround and tip.
I have an MB15 shrouded torch but an MB25 would be a bit bigger.
