Clarke 150 te problem - help please

Hi, my Clarke mig welder has just stopped feeding wire. I opened up the casing and whilst pressing the torch button I could see that the relay contacts were operating well and I cleaned their surfaces with some wet and dry paper. As the wire feed motor has stopped working I decided to check it with a 12 volt car battery and it worked as it should. I checked the pcb for signs of burning and found nothing.
Can anybody suggest anything else it might be?

Welcome to the forum.

Just a thought, but even though the relay is working, that does not necessarily mean that there is 12V at the motor.

May be worth putting a meter across the motor terminals to check that there is 12V at the terminals. If not, then I guess it's a case of chasing the fault back through the wire feed motor supply circuit.

Further to my previous reply, you can find a schematic in the user manual here

This is the manual for a 151TE - but I believe that the 151 was simply a repackaged 150TE.

The motor earths through the workpiece earth - so firstly, ensure that you have a good earth to the workpiece (check cable and clamp).

Assuming this is all good (and having looked at the schematic), there is a diode on the return circuit from the motor. If there is no voltage at the motor terminals, this would be the next check.
