Hi everyone.
Started taking about welders in the introduction section with my first post 'Big thanks to the members of this forum! (saved me £130)' but realised was probably the wrong section for that question, especially as the thread inevitably got onto landrovers (i do love em!)
was looking for a welder to do bulkheads (1mm or less considering its age!) , chassis work (2-3mm or less, but replacing with upto 5mm plate) and mostly 2.5 and 2 mm CDS tube. ive been told that a 150amp will struggle with 5mm, but i dont mind spending time beveling edges, and i will only do a limited amount of 5mm plate (most likey lap joints)
i like the idea of the clarke 150 (not the 151 as i like the blue and the lack of plastic!) or the 160. emailed '*removed for legal reasons*' to ask for a quote on bottle rent, but archie pointed out they are quite expensive (will do lots of welding, but with upto many months inbetween sessions due to uni), so would probably prefer disposible cylinders and hence the 150
kinda limited on budget to around 250
what you all think?
ps: ive heard weldequip can do good prices....?
