Hi all.

New to welding, just got the above welder. M-Mart say its its "1 phase up to 3.5 kw". The chap I bought it off gave me a pack of 2mm stcks. just wondering if when using the smaller 2mm sticksor possiblt 1.6mm I could run the welderon a 2kw honda generator as it wont be fulling its max power.

Probably not work well. You need several times the rated load to handle the sudden changes in load the welder causes. Can damage the genny or just be erratic.

Thanks, I did think this may be the case.

Not to worry I only got it just to have a go and I had no plans for future welding task out of my garage just a though in case something cropped up I would check before I break something.

On the welder I am can report I ampleased with it for what I want (the odd bit of tacking, small repairs of tools like shovels and just genrally to have a go at welding).
