Hello everyone I be looking for a while for a mig welder something for repairing cars and making the ord gate or fence I think this model is made in China not italy I seen this one in machine mart today in the sales part for £137 the question is it worth it or should I save up a bit more money and buy the clarke 151te?

You might struggle with car-thickness metal if the minimum output is 35A. As everyone always says, check out the duty cycle (how many minutes welding you can do before you need to let the set cool down). You'll probably find that in that league, 100% duty (ie you could weld all day with hardly a break) is something like 20A (which it won't go down to) and maybe as feeble as 25% duty at max. output.
Best bet is to buy the most powerful set you can find that will run from a 13A socket AND give you the longest duty cycle at high Amps. Almost certainly cost a bit more initially but as most people will tell you, they soon upgraded from their first welder (jobs WILL find you once you have the kit), most lost money on selling the first one - so you may as well spend it on the right gear to start with
Secondhand is the way to go to get a decent output for sensible money, you just ned someone who knows what they're looking for to check it over - or buy from one of the guys on here, the ones I've dealt with have been downright upright citizens

becarefull with mc mart as they only sell welders up to 130 amp with plugs . the rest have the horse shoe shaped connectors and if you cut them off you void the warranty .I know this because I went in wanting the 151 welder . so once I found that out I got the Clarke 130en from there . its a good welder it does upto 5mm my mate says its better than his 150 amp welder
