i have a 135te, it does what i need it do, its good for me, but there is just one thing...the wirefeed motor is very loud. is there a way i can sort this out? have i set something up wrong?
thanks joe
Is the tensioner too tight on the feed rollers?
Also if the reel tension is too tight it will make it harder for the motor to drive.
Take the feed roller tensioner off so it can't drive the wire and press the trigger, if it's still noisy but works ok then you'll just have to put up with it.
I have just bought the exact same model from a member on the forum, simply because it was local and I am downsizing a bit.
Mine is very quiet, in fact you can hardly hear the motor running so maybe a bit more investigation is required.
I have never worked on one so can't really advise what the problem could be but the first thing I would look for is to ensure any rotating parts are not 'scraping' against the casing or similar.
I know on an old SIP I had there was a squeek that a little..very little... drop of 3 in 1 oil on the shaft sorted.
If the noise is a high speed screech then it will be the gear on the end of the motor. If it is a slow grindy (think that's a word!) then it will be the gearbox part of wire feed.
The reason the motor makes a screech is that it is running very fast (motors I change at work are 3000 rpm into a gearbox which then drops the speed down to 48 or 310 rpm (two main types) They are very similar to wirefeed mortor asy's (see pic) I have befor now removed one or two of the motor to gearbox screws and using a can of spray grease and it's spray straw inserted into gearbox as far as it will go then whils spraying slowly withdraw ( I refer to this as the withdraw methord ) This should sort the slow type noises. For the high screech it would need to remove the motor from the gearbox and spray the small gear at end of motor.
Avoid using WD40 or similar as it will only be a temp fix.
As the ones I work on are on medical devices I only use as temp fix/get out of jail type fix.
