Clarke 135te gas issue?

Hi, I've recently bought a second hand 135te. I welded with it for the first time the other day. It seems ok but I'm not sure I'm getting enough gas through the torch. When I press the trigger I hear an initial "hiss" of gas and the silence? Is this normal or should I hear a continuous stream?

You should hear it continuing. It will be louder at first.

Are you using the small disposable bottles? as they don't have a very high flow rate. Try releasing the wire feed roller (saves getting your ear pierced ) and putting the nozzle by your ear.

Yes I'm using the small disposable at the moment. Thinking of upgrading to refillable. Is it just a case of using an adapter tube?

Could be a dodgy gas valve inside the torch handle (underneath the trigger), although the disposables are not much use as said; if you intend doing anything more than 10 minutes of welding every other weekend get yourself a refillable

I'm going to replace my torch as there is some damage to the outside sheaf anyway. Is it worth converting it to a euro torch? Are there any benefits? I take it I will need to install a gas solenoid as well? Thanks once again for your advise in advance.

I am having similar issues myself. im using the disposable cylinders for now, mostly c02, went to try the c02/argon mix and im getting nothing? switch back to c02 and it works fine?
any ideas?

Are you sure there's anything in the Ar mix bottle? they have been known to leak and it doesn't take long to empty

that was my first thought also, but when i turn the regulator to 6 (full) and screw it onto the bottle i can hear the gas hissing, sometimes its faint sometimes its loud
