Clarke 100E swan neck problem

I am a new welder have bought a clarke of ebay everything working great, decided to renew the tip 0.6mm. very stiff to remove and appears crossed. Can I retap or do I need to replace the valve assembly? any ideas would be appreciated as I need it for my project (half way though a moggy inner wing)

it might tap not sure what the thread is. did you let it cool before trying to remove i bust the swan neck doing that. A new swan neck isn't expensive

I've tapped one to clean it up M 5 from what i remember.

I think you're right Wyn, M5 on the 'hobby' size and m6 on MB15, 25 and 36 I believe.

Yep definitely M5, suggest you use an intermediate tap first, then a bottoming, be careful not to let the brass bits fall back into gun
