Any good, found one locally for about £80 with bottle, mask etc (I guess the bits that come with the basic set).

Planning on using it for car body and general stuff around the house/garden.

As the wife said, "What do you want to weld?"

"Stuff", came the reply.

I wonder if I can weld the microwave to the radiator?

I've managed to brainwash her though on the shopping front. She doesn't enjoy it anymore. Saying,"how long does it take you to earn the money to buy that?", did the trick.

You're not helping It looks a fair price to me given what the cost new, but I've only seen Machine Mart prices and the like but there may be other sources that are cheaper. This is my first machine you see, I can't weld, but I would like to be able to. I have a couple of projects that require welding, so I though it would be a good idea to learn.

The diamond ring that I got her for her birthday that categorically *isn't* an engagment ring has given me some kudos of late. Happily unmarried after 13 years, and if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I could get a more expensive one if I wanted to, but I'm a tight git. This looks like it will do what I want though.

(Don't ever tell her it's cubic zirconium! ) Machine Mart's prices are pretty much bob on, I can shave a bit off but they tend to be very keen (certainly on welders). You get the odd dealer on eBay that slaughters the price but I know the wholesale price & buy as good as anybody (apart from Clarke of course). Ask yourself do you want some kind of after-sales service?
