hello everyone,I was thinking of buying a clark 105en,to be used only for welding bodywork,but according to machine mart,thr 90 en has a lower minimum setting of around 25 amps,as opposed to the 105s 30 amps. HOWEVER,on downloading the product manuals,on the spec sheet for both welders,the 60%duty cycle minimum setting for the 90en is shown as 30 amps.so does that mean the lowest minimum setting is in fact 30 amps,which is exactly the same as the 105en,or am i misunderstanding the information. If the 90 en does have a miminum of 25 amps,would this be a better buy to use on car bodywork,bearing in mind I am a novice at mig welding. Thanks , Phil.

The 60% ref in the manuals just means that both welders will weld for about 6 minutes in every 10 when set at 30 Amps output. It doesn't have very much to do with the lowest output settings.
With the 90EN's lowest output being around 25 Amps, it should be able to weld at that for a longer duty cycle, perhaps 70% at 25 Amps, or 7 minutes in every 10. In panel work you are not likely to be doing continuous welding anyway, as there is plenty of setting-up and adjustment to do between welds.
In theory, the 90EN, using argon/CO2 gas mix, will be slightly easier to use on thin metal, for someone beginning especially. But if you start welding with a m/c that goes down to only 30 Amps, you still adjust to it; it maybe takes a little longer.
Above 30 Amps low output things can get a little more tricky, and for someone starting up are best left alone, unless it's a pro workshop machine, some of which can still stitch or tack thin metal at 35 - 40 Amps.

thanks Keith,have bought an 90 en from machine mart,only drawback seems to be there is no cooling fan although the case has the locating holes for one,just wondered if you had any advice on how to wire one up,as I have an old sip broken) migmate with a working fan.Thanks Phil.

If it's 230V connect it to the incoming mains before the on/off switch via a suitable (1Amp) fuse.
