Latest in a long list of projects is wide-load mirrors for the wagon.

Quite simply, I want to clamp a 200mm length of 30 x 30 box section to the underside of the mirror arm, which is 30 mm diameter tube. Into that will slide a length of 25 mm box with a mirror head clamped on the end, all clamped up via nuts welded to the 30 box and clamp bolts, all galvanized and powder coated.

Anyone know of a source of clamps for said box-tube? At the end of the day, I want it to look good so jubilee clips/cable ties/bodge tape, etc, aren't an option. I was pondering a tv-style aerial clamp but they all seem to have some form of V bracket with large "teeth" which will spoil the look of it. Welding lugs for "U" bolts onto the 30 box is no problem if needs be. Stainless hardware always works for me, saves it rusting and looks better.

I think your saying you have 25mm SHS sliding / telescoping into some 30mm SHS? The 30mm has or is having captive welded nuts with bolts to fix the 25 at the desired length (to suit the load perhaps?) . What I don't get (if indeed I am correct) is were the clamp will be required is it to the underside of some 30mm round tube ?(the existing mirror frame perhaps?)

If I am correct and you are wishing to have a removable piggy back type clamp of 30mm round to 30 mm square? I should in fact make up a couple of u bolts to wrap over the 30 round, yet on the SHS below to prevent sliding and making the fit easier they need to be captive on the side walls of the 30x30 square I think- try two small bits of tube welded onto the square (enough the clear the U bolt on the I/D after galv) yet not too think in the wall to make your rad too tight to grab the round fully (add a bit of sheet rubber from an inner tube or the like perhaps to stop scatching and help with the grip). Tighten with wing nuts if they don't require too much tightening, std nuts if not.

Making U bolts aint too hard! thread them before bending, concentrate on forming the correct rad then shorten the thread and o/a length to suit
