Citric acid rust removal

Has anyone tried Phosphoric acid ?

I've used it many times. It leaves a slate grey finish which is rust resistant.

might set up a eletrolysos tank too Ive just been given probably about 2 ton of metal all shapes and sizes but lots of strip/bar up to 6x100 most with alot of surface rust im debating keeping it at 20ft lengths or cutting it but its going to have to be citric if i keep it that way and knock up a long tank out of ply and line it

cant think of a better way at the moment

as an aside i did most of my chevy pickup chassis with citric acid mixed with wallpaper paste it works a treat just cover it then jetwash off after 2/3 days

Is bilt hamber deox c just citric acid or is there more to it? have been contemplating wether to try deox c or the gel version but as citric acid is a damn sight cheaper, and can be used like the gel with wall paper paste added
Anyone compared the two?

I have used both, you cant tell the difference apart from the price.

I find Deox C a bit faster, I think it's got a surfectant in it, but not enough that I won't just buy citric at half the cost.

I always mix washing up liquid in to break up any surface oil film.

I'd've thought all that would do is neutralise some of the citric acid?

Washing up liquid should be pH neutral, I think.
Although it's made with an alkali, it's saponified.

If I use citric acid, missed with wall paper paste.
I will wrap the item in cling film. Or seal it in a bag, that way it stops it from drying out.

Nope.
I did it to a 1930@s Scammel heavy haul, ex army set up.
Ok not cling film,but shrink wrap.


It is al about what works

Took some of it out this weekend jetwashed came up pretty clean
