Be careful as C-spanners are available as both peg and pin.
They will be made to a DIN standard (1810B), and each one available will fit a range of diameters. The pin size should be standardised for a specific diameter range.
Trying to hold the narrow upper knurled section with one hand, the main knurled part with the other, whilst holding up the drill bit with the little finger, doesn't make it easy to tighten.
Trying to tighten it enough for >5mm drill bits takes the skin off the hand holding the upper 'stationary' part.
I have to lower the quill to insert an old screwdriver into the slot to 'lock' the drill, then apply my efforts to the chuck.
Once I've drilled umpty-nine holes, I can't grip the chuck well enough to loosen it without recourse to 'tools'.
Thank you, @Agroshield this link should answer my question:
I've started to convert my pillar drill to keyless....not that I like em but a lot less faf.....plus my original chack are done...
I bought these drill bits just to run with but will convert my exsisting stock of drills asap...thats as soon as I get 3phase for the mill....
try these drill bit....no need for a tight chuck as they have ground flutes .....
