As the title suggests, I have some French tinfoil that needs some attention, namely an 89 205 gti.
The areas that require metal are the rear end of the sill, and bottom of the quarter panel, as well as the leading edge of the front inner wings.
I have a Clarke 100EN Mig, fresh 0.6mm wire and a new liner, will get some co2/argon gas from somewhere (any suggestions in the Newport/Cardiff areas?)
The main sticking point is that I've never bought any material to do any repairs before, always used what seemed suitable from the pile in the corner of the workshop when I was in the trade (cut my welding teeth on MK5 transits and HGV 45ft artic trailers!) but I'm not in the Auto trade any more.
So I haven't a clue what thickness to use, I guess I want zinc coated stuff? (I know I need to grind this before welding and not breathe the fumes) or where to get said material, I may use genuine repair panels for the inner wings, but there's nothing suitable available for the sills+1/4 panel.
Any assistance much appreciated
