chinese kids trike

lad at work asked if i could fix his kids trike today . the welds have more or less peeled off the parent metal.
never seen such horrific build quality , 7 welds have cracked. hes emailed the company in china and no such company exists now. had a go welding it and it is the worst thing i have ever welded , turned my welder right down and it still started to burn through , used the short stitch technique and i got there in the end but its not as pretty as id like. Anybody else done anything like this with more success ?

They are a death trap ,putting it in the skip would be a better success.

If you weld it up and one of the welds cracks and causes an accident with the child, the finger of blame will be pointed at you. Avoid.

Naaa he understands the situation , and at the end of the day if he chooses to put his child on the trike that lies on his head . After all he bought a ***** trike in the first place

By the sounds of it you couldn't make it any worse.
I've had a similar experience with a motorised scooter. 3 cracked welds total china junk. I just sanded back the terribly thin chrome and run round them with the tig. Seemed to weld half decent and I can't see them busting again cos unlike the ones that were on it I used a bit of heat.

Mine welded okay considering I was using 0.8 wire . Think of I was to do some more I'd prefer a smaller wire and run the weld a bit hotter
