Chimney Stack Through Dormer Roof

Semi-detached bungalow built in 1960. Has a rear dormer extension. There's an unused chimney stack comes up about 2/3 of the way along the dormer. This for the old fireplace and at one time solid fuel boiler. Now a modern gas boiler with the flue to the rear of the property through a downstairs wall.

I think the stack goes up through the flat dormer roof.

The question is is this likely to be structural as in could it come out and the roof be patched? (Photo angle makes it look like the ceiling is sloped, it's not).

wont be structual if its just a chimney . whip a floorboard up and look under if u feel the need

Not something I know a lot about but it looks like you have a normal support (rosehip - according to the link below) between the sloped roof and the flat dormer ceiling. The chimney doesn't look like it's doing anything structural, only way to see is remove the dormer ceiling around the stock and check it's not tied into the rosehip, I suspect it's free standing and can be removed.

Edit: are you looking at removing the chimney from the dormer room or from the room below the dormer?

Try a different camera and you might find it fixes a lot of problems with the floor & the ceiling - it's a long time since I saw anything with a room that was so far off level. Is it you that's got the job of rebuilding the Crooked House?

No, downstairs the stack goes into a thick, dividing wall.

That wall behind the fireplace is at the base of the stack. It's about 2' thick, between lounge and kitchen/diner & is staying.

Looks like a classical estate agent's wide angle lens camera shot. Try putting your eye where the camera lens is (about 1 or 2 inches from the centre of a computer screen, or about half an inch from a phone screen) and it'll all look "right" again.

As for the chimney, it's unlikely to be load-bearing in that position, though there might be ties going from the roof timbers to the chimney brickwork.

its not structual as the beams will run at either side of the chimney

with filler pieces at the rear and at the front you will have rear/side front seals so the dormer roof dosnt leak in but it can if not kept up to

is it worth taking out yes and no, if not being used take it out but you will loose the use of it if you ever want to bring it back again

dormer roof wont be checked upon though always price a new roof being replaced unless someones been up there to check it and theres photos of it

Roof has been repaired/re-felted along with the garage a couple of years ago.
