cheapest way to get into heatshrink label for wires

Would numbered sleeves not work? But not sure they would work with "thin" wires.

I’ve got an old brother pt2480 (discontinued now) which is an industrial type label maker. I used it for wrap/repeat labelling using flexi tape but it was never officially supposed to be able to use the heat shrink type.

I picked up some generic brother heat shrink tape from Amazon a few weeks ago and it works no problem, even though the printer I have doesn’t say it works with heat shrink. The description on amazon gives a list of printers it works with.

This was the heatshrink I got (for small diameter wires, they do other sizes) so maybe see what cheap printers they recommend to go with it in the description?.

We've got some label printer thing at work, could be brother, too big for small wires.

Just print it out on A4, small scale font, cut it out, then clear heatshrink, job jobbed.

I fell foul of this issue before.

For something that will not "break the bank" you will be using white heatshrink and a marker pen. Or plain white tap to create a 'flag' you write on.
But be wanted the white heatshrink is very easy to discolour.

The Dymo Rhino 4200 works well with the "compatible" heatshrink consumables from ebay/amazon at a tenth the price of the pukka Dymo ones.

Depends what the application is.

I've used some A4 sheets of special peel off labels, which you can print on, and then wrap around the cable to do datacentre stuff and they worked fine, were fairly cheap and easy. But I wouldn't expect them to last long if used inside a machine electrical panel or a generator or similar.
