Cheapest CO2 source for MIG welding near Oxfordshire?

Hi, I am new to MIG welding and have recently bought a BOC Migmaster 130 turbo which is identical to the Cebora Pocket 130 Turbo and the Snap On 130 turbo, all three being made by Cebora. I have been warned to avoid the disposable CO2 cannisters as too expensive, and have heard that pub CO2 supply is cheaper than welding CO2. Do I buy an empty bottle on ebay and if so where do i get it cheaply filled near Oxford? Could anyone recommend how to go about getting the cheapest set up for CO2 in Oxfordshire? Thanks, Adam.

Some pub CO2 has nitrogen in it, which is no good for welding with. Usually getting CO2 from a pub landlord is a "fiddle job" and has implications if you're caught with a bottle that you don't have any paperwork for.

Gas bottles are usually owned by the gas company, and not by an individual so make sure you're not buying stuff off Ebay that doesn't belong to the vendor.

I used to go to a soft drink supplier years ago and simply buy a C02 cylinder same as pub bottle and return the empty, there are independent suppliers to the drinks trade that will happily sell you gas, also these companies don't charge rental

Alternatively the Volkszone offer from BOC is seriously cheap considering what you get for your money. They have outlets all over the country and will even deliver - for a price.

Hi Adam,

Oxford Welding Supplies, Freeland, just behind the plant nursery. does Albee gas, rent free and you own the bottle. Look at the Albee system, I got a good deal on my Oxy. He has a mobile fleet so may even be out your way, I know his vans get around or visit the depot. Give them a ring first as he quite often goes out with urgent deliveries.
