I'm after a cheap mig to do a few small patches on a land rover chassis, or do you guys think it might be better to have someone come and do it for me? I have not used a welder in 20 or so years so I'm pretty rusty. I'm based in Suffolk outside bury so if you could recommend someone who does mobile welding , or someone who fancies a few hours work on a Saturday that would be a great help.

Not welded in 20 years but how good were you 20 years ago? To be fair as you asking the above question I shall assume you were never doing a lot.
Having done a lot of series 1,2,3 Landrover chassis work in the past the mention of small patches brings up red flags for me, small patches can be done but they mostly do nothing much for the structural integrity long term, although they might pass MOT I shouldn't personally want to go driving around on and off road with a lot of the "patch" repairs I have seen.
The best way is sectional repairs not patching and when you have done a few and learned the wrinkles and tricks it can even prove quicker as well as far stronger and I personally tend to fully weld round the rails then fish plate over on the joint when doing a section, I should likely as not go to a man who can as the type of MIG you choose is of far less relevance as we are only talking 14 swg M/S on the series range and any of the respected car / diy brands should do with gas not cored wire.
If your doing this as a learning experience / hobby project fair enough but its hard to control a landy in a squeaky moment as it is let alone one that breaks in back and having been there many times you will likely end up with a great big patchwork quilt once you get going so if you do take the patch route start the job prep with a hammer looking for the next soft spots
