I have a fishing rod I need to post. Printed off label from parcel force and dropped off at the post office to be told it is too long. The parcel is 6 ft long and weighs 1kg, parcel force want to charge me £25 which is way too much. Any recommendations?

I've looked at paisley freight, they want £16 but they don't insure the contents unless the parcel is a total loss. And with a expensive fishing rod, what happens if they only damage it? Strange one that!

I've used the Paisley service, picked up by tnt, sent 6 rods all over the country with no problem.

I put them in fall pipe packed with bubble wrap at the ends, then inside carpet roll tubes, loads of parcel tape and jobs a good un

I've sent stuff with parcel Pete (UK mail) that was over the size they listed and all that happened was they delayed delivery by a day

I bubble wrapped and put in rod tube, got some carpet roll so ill wrap the tube and stuff it in the roll
