cheap BBQ grill advice needed

we have a comunity BBQ coming up, and although we have a few half drum BBQs, we need some grills. can anyone suggest somewhere i can get bits of stainless mesh that i can cut to size, as this seems the cheapest and easiest method. am open to other/ better suggestions. thanks

Just get non galvanised mesh as the heat will kill any bugs off. Most BBQs just have M/S chromed and the Chrome soon parts company with the parent metal

Try FH Bundle. They have BBQ grill mesh listed on their website I think.

Just buy mild steel weld mesh from a steel stockist 8x4 sheets, I forget the price but it seemed cheap enough even for me.

Kill 2 birds with 1 stone, pull some shopping trolleys out of a river or canal and chop the mesh out for BBQ's.

You would not believe that just this afternoon I was planning a grill for new project currently under construction.

Current flavor of the month is to use some 6mm rebar that I've got plenty of welded into some sort of frame. This may be a little OTT for a one off use. Round where I live there's a serious shortage of scrap that can be repurposed.

B&Q do some reasonably cheap EML which will work, will need stiffening up with a couple of bars welded underneath

I bought a sheet of the BBQ stainless mesh from Brundle's last year and its proper flimsy stuff. Distorted like you wouldn't believe when in use and Id folded it into shape and welded stiffeners along two edges.

I made this for my mate last summer.

speak to your local steel stockist,there are various sizes of mesh available and as said you want stuff thats clean and not galvo,and I would still do a cook off before using it for cooking the first time.
Mesh is handy stuff if you are left with off cuts or the barbie bits after the party is over.

Still zinc, just a thinner electroplating process.
