Chassis rust treatment

Ive recently picked up a 2003 Nissan Navara "truck". Whilst the chassis is solid, there is surface rust, scaling etc. Id originally thought about using POR15 paint to protect it, but particularly at the front end there are various suspension brackets, outriggers etc, where it would be particularly difficult to get paint in all the little nooks and crannies.

Ideally Im looking for something in a thin fluid form that can be applied with a paraffin spraygun that would penetrate into all areas and convert existing rust then leave a neat coating once dried. Does such a thing exist ? any recommendations please ?

I used to have a Mitsubishi Pajero and when i did the chassis on that i used Dynax S50. The spray cans come with a 1m hose that allows you to spray the inside of the chassis legs as well. It was highly rated by a few members on the pajero forum and it seemed to do a good job. No sign of rust coming back when i sold it 2 years later.

Dinitrol might be worth a Google

Dynax, dinitrol, noxudol etc will be the solution.

rustbuster sell this: http://www.rust.co.uk/fe-123-rust-converter/c28125/ probably okay for light surface rust etc. Idea is to spray it into voids you can't get to and then a good cavity wax over the top.

Cavity waxes are good for getting into areas you can't reach etc but underbody waxes are thicker, more hard wearing and offer better protection.

I find rust converters mostly disappointing and I have tried many, they are ok for sealing up a few pits on a de rusted surface but otherwise they can't penetrate deep enough to do enough. But it certainly wouldn't hurt under a cavity wax.

Dynax s50 is a cavity wax, Dynax UB is a thicker underbody wax, they also do a clear version should you need it.

how does the Dinitrol go on, is it fairly thin ? and does it get everywhere like waxoyl ?

Don't use waxoyl whatever you do, it is a very poor product.

It dries, cracks and then traps moisture against the very thing you are trying to protect.

i used the 3m under sealer on my L200 and it has done well gun screws straight onto the can
