changing to refillable gas help

Hi all,

excellent forum, i've been lurking for a while now getting hints and tips, but now i need some help that i can't find an answer to on the search. I have a clarke 151te and i went through 6 of those disposable argon mix bottles in 2 days (£60!!!!) so i need to start using the refillable type before i go bankrupt! After a lot of serching i have found a place very local that want £50 deposit and £29.99 per fill for argon mix, very reasonable (no rental either!)

But they only do the bottles, so i guess i need a regulator and some way to connect to my thin pipe on the welder, how do i go about this and where do i get the stuff required?

go to boc for your gas. look at the volkszone offer on the shielding gas section. this offer is still open. about 60.00 quid all in

No dont go to BOC if you can avoid it, they are a royal pain.

There are better and cheaper options you just have to find them. I use Industrial Gases in hereford (no use to you) but cheaper, less hassle, no delivery charge and no handling charge. There are people all over the Uk offering these services, BOC used to have almost a monopoly on this game and act as if they still do.

Go local and ask who people use this stuff, fab shops, engineers, blackmiths etc.

I also use Industrial Gases in Hereford, BOC are very expensive as there is always extra charges like handling etc.

I pay for pure Argon about £90 rental and £50 refill, once a year and that is the 5' large bottle. BOC would be over £200+ for the same last time I priced them up. Even Air Products are cheaper than BOC.
